New Federal Website: College Scorecard

Check out the new Federal Website College Scorecard! The website is intended to help students make more informed decisions on which college they would like or plan to attend.

The College Scorecard is one of six components to the newly launched Federal Website: Collegecost (Collegecost.edu.gov)

Using the College Scorecard tool:

1. Enter the name of your school.

2. Select from the pop -up drop down list.

3. View information provided

Quickly giving the College Scorecard a test run, I concluded the following:

1. The College Scorecard tool is fairly easy to use.
2. It provides basic information regarding each selected school such as costs, graduation rate, median borrowing, undergraduate enrollment and more.
3. Can search colleges by other criteria besides entering the college name such as Digital Marketing for the Degree & Major. Note: University of Michigan - Dearborn is on of few universities in the United States that offer the Digital Marketing degree.

4. Beneficial to students researching colleges to attend.
5. Greatly beneficial to students who want snapshots of multiple colleges without going to numerous different websites. One stop shop so to speak!

Top Digital Marketing Schools presents Jason Yoder

The class was delighted to hear from guest speaker, Jason Yoder, in Communication Strategy & New Media class, on October 22, 2012 at the University of Michigan - Dearborn. It was a honor and very beneficial to hear this digital marketing professional speak. He spoke about his experiences and background in the marketing field and how he mainly has worked in the digital stream of marketing. He also explained the integration of digital marketing and off-site marketing.

I can not share everything that he shared with us but I will share tidbits of what he shared with us that will hopefully encourage you in your digital marketing endeavors.

Choosing Digital Media to Advertise:

1. Know your goal. What do you want to achieve? Make this is as clear as possible.

2. Know who you are talking to.
In oppose to traditional marketing where you will mainly be concerned with what is the message and where to put the message, digital media offers marketers reach and more accurate measurability. For instance, for a cheaper cost one could find out more about who they want to reach and send a message to with the tools available to them which mean that there is really not a need for an agency. With the tools (some free) out there you can really pin point your audience (target market) and send messages only to them which increase the possibility of reaching your goal without wasting a lot of money.

3. Develop creative message.
Depending on the segmentation of your audience you can create and deliver the right messages to them. In  digital marketing, one could have ten messages sent and displayed to ten different groups in oppose to traditional marketing where there is one message displayed to all. (Marketing using Digital Media is relatively cheaper).

There is a lot more but that is all for now...until next time...

It is not strange to have many opportunities where one could meet and learn a plethora of awesome information from awesome professionals at top digital marketing schools.
